Healing Touch Physical Therapy treats the body, mind, and spirit. We believe in treating each patient with a comprehensive strategy involving education, exercise, and wellness planning.  Our balance of holistic treatment and sound medical knowledge ensure that you are in good hands.

To provide pain relief, Healing Touch Physical Therapy provides pain control modalities such as ultrasound, hot and cold packs. Manual therapy may be used to relieve pain and restore function. Your therapist may provide you with instructions in proper positioning to control your pain symptoms.

Exercise is almost always an important part of your program. Hence, patients usually receive instructions in exercises to be done in a gym or at home.

We are proud to offer the following services

Manual Therapy

An integrated systems approach using muscle energy, mobilization, and soft tissue techniques to help promote healing and more effective rehabilitation.

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation is a technique combining passive and isometric stretching in order to achieve maximum static flexibility.

Therapeutic Exercise

Uses a wide variety of specific exercises to help patients regain maximum function following injury or disease. Our therapists are involved in the treatment of patients of all ages, and each exercise program is designed specifically to suit the condition and needs of each patient.

Modalities such as ultrasound, when applied to the body allows sound waves to be absorbed by the various tissues and produces heat. The heat produced by ultrasound penetrates into human tissue deeper than any other heat modality, and this promotes muscle relaxation, increased local metabolism and reduction of pain by sedating nerve endings.

Myofascial Release

Fascia is the interwoven connective tissue that surrounds our muscles and internal organs. Fascia shrinks when it is inflamed, is slow to heal because of poor blood supply and is painful when inflamed because of its rich nerve supply. Myofascial release removes restrictions that impede efficient movement and use of energy for daily tasks.

Post-surgical Rehabilitation

After a thorough evaluation, therapy programs involving a variety of treatment options are put into effect. Goals are set for the patient to resume normal activities as much as possible, as soon as possible. Additional techniques offered by our therapists include movement re-education, manipulation and joint mobilization, cardiovascular endurance training and electrical, heat and cold treatments.

Balance and Falls Program

After a thorough evaluation using special balance tests, we will help you increase your balance, flexibility, and strength to help you reduce the risk of taking a fall.

New Mother's Program

As a new mother, we can help you with neck, back, hip and even carpel tunnel pain. You can benefit from many of the same treatments that help non-moms: stretching and strengthening exercises, posture re-training, hands-on techniques, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat and ice. In most cases, you’ll see results after six to twelve visits for postpartum weakness provided you don’t have a pre-existing condition, such as arthritis or fibromyalgia.

Patient Information

What should I expect on my first visit?

During your visit you can expect the following:

  1. Arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment time. Bring your paperwork completed (you can download it from our website – see the New Patient Forms section).
  2. You will provide us with your prescription for physical therapy.
  3. We will copy your insurance card.
  4. You will be seen for the initial evaluation by the therapist.

What do I need to bring with me?

Make sure you bring the following items:

  1. Your physical therapy referral (provided to you by your doctor).
  2. Your payment information. If your insurance is covering the cost of physical therapy, bring your insurance card. If you are covered by Workers’ Compensation, bring your claim number and your case manager’s contact information. If you are covered by auto insurance or an attorney lien, make sure you bring this information.
  3. Copayment/Deductible in the form of Check/ Cash/ Money order.
  4. Completed paperwork: see the New Patient Forms section.

How should I dress?

You should wear loose fitting clothing so you can expose the area that we will be evaluating and treating. For example, if you have a knee problem, it is best to wear shorts. For a shoulder problem, a tank top is a good choice, and for low back problems, wear a loose fitting shirt and pants, again so we can perform a thorough examination.

How long will each treatment last?

Treatment sessions typically last 30 to 60 minutes per visit.

Will I get a massage at physical therapy?

Massage may be part of your treatment. Rehabilitation specialists are trained in a variety of techniques that may help with your recovery. Deep tissue techniques may be part of the rehabilitative process. Massage is used for three reasons typically – to facilitate venous return from a swollen area, to relax a tight muscle, or to relieve pain.

Information about physical therapy evaluation and treatment

Your first visit will consist of an evaluation by a licensed Physical Therapist. Your therapist will determine your individualized treatment plan designed to improve your movement, physical function and restore your quality of life. Your treatment may include the use of Manual Therapy, Therapeutic Exercise, and/or Modalities.

  1. Our therapists use their hands during Manual Therapy to correct mechanical problems in joints, muscle tissues, or connective tissues; which is the root of most patients’ pain.
  2. The majority of treatment programs will include Therapeutic Exercise in our gym facility.
  3. These exercises are designed to increase strength, range of motion, and promote proper body mechanics. Many patients are also given exercises to perform at home. This is an essential part of your treatment!
  4. Modalities are devices designed to reduce pain, inflammation, increase relaxation and improve circulation.
  5. You will be given re-examinations periodically to determine progress, inform your physician of your progress, and to make appropriate changes to your treatment plan.
  6. In order for your rehabilitation to be successful, we need your active participation!
